Accrington professional Robert Haynes took 5-42 and then hit 46 to help Accrington beat Colne by 3 wickets to register a first home win of the season. David Parsons (2-22) picked up his first wickets of the season dismissing openers Geoff Fryers (1) and Paul Simmonite (12). Gary Hunt fell to Haynes after making just 1 in 35 balls with professional Dave Rundle doing the bulk of the scoring in a 21 run stand for the 3rd wicket. Andy Riley (21) helped his professional add 38 for the 4th wicket before falling to Haynes who also had Neil Hargreaves (0) stumped by Billy Rawstron second ball. Ian Birtwistle (3-18) had Peter Little caught by Andy Barker for 6 after adding 20 with Rundle. Haynes then trapped his opposite number without addition for 46. Ian Oliver and Trevor Kegg took the score to 110 when Oliver fell to Haynes for 8. Birtwistle polished off the tail by removing Kegg (10) and Kevin Cullen (3) to dismiss Colne for 119. Accrington lost both openers Nick Marsh (4) and Barker (6) to Rundle and Kegg at 11. Rawstron was trapped in front by Kegg without scoring after adding 20 with Haynes who hit nine fours in making 46 from 37 balls before being bowled by Kegg (3-68). Rundle also picked up Paul Barratt (1), Neil Barnes (11) and Parsons (1) but skipper David Lloyd steered Accrington home with an unbeaten 40 with seven balls to spare. Scorecard
