Church professional Graham Smith hit an unbeaten 106 to lead his team to a 9 wicket win over Accrington in the local derby at West End. Accrington posted their highest score of the season, making 176-5 thanks to a 4th wickets stand of 122 between professional Robert Haynes and Billy Rawstron. Nick Westwell took 4-74 against his former club, removing openers Andy Barker at 28 and Nick Marsh (18) at 32. Three runs later Neil Barnes fell to the medium pacer without scoring. Haynes and Rawstron rebuilt the innings with Haynes hitting four fours and two sixes in making a league best 75 from 83 balls before falling to Westwell at 158. Rawstron hit four fours in his innings of 45 before falling to Smith at 170, caught by Martin Heyes at mid off. Church openers Smith and Gerard Metcalf put on 80 before the amateur fell to Haynes for 32. Skipper Steve Metcalf (24 not out) joined his professional to add exactly 100 to seal victory in the 44th over. Smith hit nine fours and five sixes, three of them in succession off Accrington skipper David Lloyd who conceded 22 runs off his tenth and final over after the home side had needed to score 76 off the final 10 overs to secure their first win of the season. A good sized crowd paid £440 to watch the match. Scorecard
