Accrington match against Bacup again fell foul to the weather with the home side making 16-1 in reply to Bacup's 164-8. Ian Birtwistle took 5-49 and professional Rod Tucker 3-74 in the Bacup innings. Tucker struck first by sending back opener David Usher for 14 with 20 on the board. Jonathan Heaton was Birtwistle's first victim at 51, caught by Martin Whittle for 9. Peter Nicholson's 67 ball innings of 25 ended when he was caught by Nick Marsh off Birtwistle at 52. Nick Cronshaw (5) became Ian Birtwistle's 700th Lancashire League wicket at 67 but a 5th wicket stand of 62 between professional Steve Wundke and Terry Lord took the score to 129. Lord took 45 balls for his 40 runs before being bowled by Birtwistle. Wundke was next to go caught by Birtwistle off Tucker for for 32. Peter Usher hit three sixes in making 26 from 8 balls before becoming Birtwistle's fifth victim at 160. Accrington lost Andy Barker without scoring in making 16-1, 14 of which were made by Billy Rawstron. Scorecard
