Accrington gained revenge for their defeat at Dill Hall Lane seven days previously with a 5 wicket home win over Enfield. Rain delayed the start until 3.13pm so the match was reduced to 35 overs a-side. Mark Whelan again top scored for Enfield with 39 but the visitors could only muster 112-8. Mark Aspin took 3-39, Alan Worsick 2-21 and Ian Birtwistle 2-27 for Accrington. Mas Ahmed made 13 of the first 16 runs before falling to Aspin. David Stanley was next to go caught by Neil Jones off Birtwistle for 16. The Barkers Andy (7), Gary (10) and skipper Keith (2) all fell along with professional Rumesh Ratnayake (0) and Whelan's 64 ball innings ended at 93 with Billy Rawstron taking the catch behind the wicket off Worsick. Russ Whalley was run out for 5 with Peter Holt (7 not out) and wicketkeeper Mick Wilson (5 not out ) adding a dozen late runs for the 9th wicket. Accrington's new opening partnership of Aspin and Paul Barratt was soon broken when Aspin fell to Holt for 1. Barratt added 28 with Graham Lloyd before being trapped in front by Ratnayake for 21. Professional Rod Tucker (28) added 47 with Lloyd before falling to his opposite number. Neil Jones (9) also fell to the visiting professional and Holt struck for the second time, ending skipper Trevor Hatch's innings for 4 but Lloyd saw Accrington to victory with an unbeaten 42 made from 63 balls. The win took Accrington up to second place, 1 point behind Nelson. Scorecard
