Enfield 174-5, Accrington 173-6
A high scoring game at Dill Hall Lane saw Accrington's run of three successive wins come to an end with a 5 wicket defeat to Enfield. After losing Mark Aspin (5), Billy Rawstron (5) and Graham Lloyd (9) to Peter Holt (3-43), professional Rod Tucker and Neil Jones took the score from 31 to 149 with a 4th wicket stand of 118. Tucker made 64 from 108 balls in just over two and a half hours to record his first Lancashire League half century before falling to David Stanley at 149. . One run later Jones was caught behind by wicketkeeper Mick Wilson off professional Rumesh Ratnayake for 47. Skipper Trevor Hatch (9 not out) and Alan Worsick (8 not out) hit late runs to take Accrington to 173-6. Stanley and Mas Ahmed put on 49 before Ahmed was caught by Tucker off Mark Aspin for 16. Stanley was bowled by Ian Birtwistle for 42 with the total on 68 at the halfway point. Gary (20) and skipper Keith Barker (17) figured in stands of 35 and 39 with Mark Whelan who made 52 before falling to Tucker with 6 runs needed from the final over. It went to the last ball of Alan Worsick's final over but Ratnayake made an unbeaten 20 to see Enfield home at 8.15pm. Accrington dropped to third place behind joint leaders Colne and Nelson.
