Accrington professional Rod Tucker recorded his best Lancashire League bowling figures to date, taking 6-38 to lead his team to a sixth successive league win. Mark Aspin also took 3-6 as Colne were bowled out for 70 after 25.1 overs. The Australian removed Terry Little (8), Peter Little (0), Steve Hipgrave (15), Gary Hunt (7), Shaun Ingram (0) and Gary Laycock (8) after Alan Worsick (1-16) had struck first to dismiss professional Rizwan-uz-Zaman for 12. Aspin then helped clean up the tail by sending back Paul Singleton (7), Trevor Kegg (0) and Geoff Lonsdale (1). Accrington tried another opening combination, this time restoring Billy Rawstron to the top of the order along with Andy Stevenson. The pair responded with a stand of 33 which was the best of the season to date. Professional Rizwan-uz-Zaman picked up all 3 wickets to fall, accounting for Stevenson (13), Graham Lloyd (0) and Tucker (6). Neil Jones hit an unbeaten 21 with Rawstron anchoring the innings with an unbeaten 30 from 87 balls to see Accrington to victory in the 29th over. Accrington stay in second place.
