Accrington notched up a seventh win in a row joining Nelson on top of the table after 12 matches, completing the double over Church in the process. David Lloyd earned a £25.00 collection for picking up 5-50 in helping to restrict the visitors to 112-8. Openers Gerard Metcalf (22) and Tommy George (29) put on 35 before Mark Aspin (3-38) broke the partnership by having Metcalf caught by David Lloyd. Skipper Steve Metcalf was next to go caught by Neil Jones off David Lloyd for 18. Ken Fergusson was trapped in front by Lloyd without scoring and he was swiftly followed back to the pavilion by professional John Maguire (1) and Ian Osborne (0) who were also victims of the former Accrington professional. George's 114 ball innings was finally ended by Lloyd after the opener had made 29 in 41 overs. Dave Gilrane hit a late 27 before he and David Horne (3) fell to Aspin. A season's best opening stand of 83 by Billy Rawstron (28) and Andy Stevenson set up an 8 wicket victory. Maguire removed Rawstron and Graham Lloyd (8) to pass 50 wickets for the season but professional Rod Tucker stayed with Stevenson, who hit nine fours in making an unbeaten 57 from 79 balls. Mark Aspin received the Man of the match award from the Little Clock Shoppe after the game. Scorecard
