Accrington notched a third successive win repeating an earlier win over Burnley this time by 6 wickets in a rain affected match at Thorneyholme Road. After Mark Aspin (3-37) had picked up Duncan Spencer (0) and Peter Brown (9), Burnley professional Mudassar Nazar found an ally in Roger Law, the pair adding 111 for the 3rd wicket before Aspin had the amateur caught by skipper Trevor Hatch for an 86 ball knock of 60. Mudassar finished unbeaten on 62 as Burnley's innings closed on 146-3 after 40 overs. The spin of Bob Whitaker picked up openers Aspin (8) and Paul Barratt (18) at 31 and 33. Professional Rod Tucker had made 27 when he was caught by Law off his opposite number at 77. Eleven runs later Graham Lloyd was bowled by Trevor Jones for 21 leaving Neil Jones (31 not out) and David Lloyd (18 not out) to lead Accrington home with an unbroken 5th wicket stand of 53 after rain had reduced the home sides target to 140 from 38 overs. Accrington stay in second place but drop a further point behind Nelson. Scorecard
