Accrington tasted victory for the first time this season, leaving Turf Moor with a 20 run win in a low scoring affair. Burnley professional Mudassar Nazar took 5-28, Paul Spencer 3-33 and Trevor Jones 1-17 to bowl Accrington out for just 81 but Alan Worsick bowled through the Burnley innings to take 6-28 from 18 overs to dismiss the home side for 61. Mudassar removed openers Billy Rawstron (6) and Davis Lloyd (4) who was playing his first game of the season on his return to the amateur ranks. Professional Rod Tucker made 14 before being run out and Graham Lloyd hit 17 from 63 balls. Paul Spencer ripped out Neil Jones (0), skipper Trevor Hatch (0) and Andy Stevenson (2) as Accrington plummeted to 53-7. Mark Aspin hit 25 from 35 balls to take the visitors up to 81, made from 43.4 overs. Wickets fell at regular intervals as the Burnley amateurs struggled against the medium pace of Tucker (2-26) and Worsick but Mudassar stood firm. Roger Law was the only other player to make double figures with 11 as the home side tumbled to 37-8. Number ten Bob Whitaker helped his professional to add 21 for the 9th wicket to put Burnley back in the match. A bowling change saw David Lloyd trap the amateur for 7, made from 30 balls. Mudassar was then run out after making 37 to give Accrington a first win of the season. Scorecard
