Accrington completed the double over Rishton with a 65 run win at Blackburn Road. Professional David Lloyd top scored with 93 in the visitors score of 201-6 and then Mark Aspin took 6-66 to bowl Rishton out for 136. Home professional Mike van Vuuren struck a double blow be sending back opener Billy Rawstron (13) and Graham Lloyd in successive balls with the score on 25. Andy Stevenson (10) helped his professional add 65 for the 3rd wicket before falling to Ian Proctor. Neil Jones then hit 51 from 42 balls in adding 76 with Lloyd who perished just 7 runs short of a second century of the season against Rishton, having hit ten fours from 135 balls. Lloyd's collection raised £14.42 whilst Jones received £17.77. Bob Hutchinson removed both men along with Alan Worsick who hit 20 from just 8 balls. Aspin quickly sent back David Ainscough (2) and David Wells (2) with Worsick accounting for David Wilson (3). Skipper John Ainscough (17) helped Phil Sykes add 65 for the 4th wicket and van Vuuren made 15 in helping Sykes take the score to 104 before falling to David Lloyd (3-33). Sykes was finally dismissed after making 61 from 104 balls with six fours and a six to earn a collection of £19.56. Lloyd removed Colin Khun and Proctor with Paul Barratt holding catches off Aspin to send back Frank Martindale and Hutchinson to wrap up what would be Accrington's twelfth and final win of the season. The win took Accrington to within 2 points of leaders Haslingden who lost at home to Nelson. Scorecard
