New league leaders Accrington were beaten at home by local rivals Enfield in the surprise of the round at Thorneyholme Road. An unbeaten 79 by opener Andy Barker helped Enfield to a score of 192-5. Barker hit seven fours and a six with solid support from professional Hugh Page (40), David Stanley (26) and Peter Holt , who hit a swift unbeaten 30. Accrington struggled against some tight bowling by Page, who conceded 29 runs from 14 overs. Professional David Lloyd top scored with 43, but Accrington slipped to 93-7 before a late rally by Paul Barratt (31 not out), skipper Alan Worsick (22) and Neil Barnes (18) took Accrington to a respectable 167-9.
