Accrington got back to winning ways with a 37 run win at Colne. Neil Jones top scored with an unbeaten 54 as Accrington piled up their highest score of the season to date, 180-9. Colne professional Craig Norris struck the first blow by dismissing opener Andy Stevenson (4) at 19 after the visitors had struggled making just 9 in the first 5 overs. Ten runs later Billy Rawstron fell to Graham Lonsdale for 19 and 1 run later professional David Lloyd was run out for 4. Skipper Trevor Hatch (26) put on 47 with Mark Aspin before falling to Gary Hunt. Aspin then put on 30 with Jones before giving Peter Little (3-45) his first wicket. Little also picked up Andy Gardener (1) at 112 and Paul Barratt was run out for 4 at 122. After losing Neil Barnes to Little for 1, Alan Worsick (20) then joined forces with Jones to add 47 for the 9th wicket. The innings closed at 180-9 after 41 overs with Jones picking up the princely sum of £6.50 for his efforts. After losing Norris (1) in Aspin's first over, Colne struggled with just 13 coming in the first 8 overs. Aspin struck again in his 8th over, sending back opener Geoff Fryers for 17 with the score on 42. Ten runs later Lloyd had Terry Little caught by Jones for 25. Trevor Lonsdale (6) added 30 with Stephen Hipgrave and Peter Little made 5 out of 16 added for the 5th wicket before becoming Ian Birtwistle's (3-28) first victim. Geoff Lonsdale was stumped by Rawstron off Lloyd for 10 at 120 and Hipgrave's valiant innings was ended at the same total when he was caught by Gardener off Birtwistle for 50 which included six fours and a six. The Colne crowd showed their appreciation by stumping up £8.40 for his efforts. Lloyd trapped Hunt in front for 7 to finish with 4-44 and Birtwistle picked up Trevor Kegg as Colne finished on 143-9.
