Accrington skipper Alan Worsick took 5-47 to lead his team to their first home win of the season against Todmorden. Mark Aspin also took a senior best  4-29 as Accrington recorded an early season double over their Border rivals. Accrington got off to the worst possible start by losing professional David Lloyd in the second over to Mike Hartley without scoring. Hartley (3-41) also bagged Billy Rawtstron (6) and Mark Aspin (0) to leave Accrington in trouble on 24-3 in the 12th over. Peter West made 34 from 72 balls before falling to Terry Makin (3-22) at 64 and Malcolm Taylor (1) followed 2 runs later to the same bowler. A 71 run stand for the 6th wicket between Trevor Hatch and Neil Jones rescued the innings and helped Accrington to 157-6. Hatch made 58 from 79 balls and Jones an unbeaten 39 from 66 balls. Aspin struck the first blow in Todmorden’s reply by removing Jim Clayton without scoring. Ian Smith (26) and Stuart Priestley (18) took the score to 30 when Aspin struck again to remove the latter. Professional Rod Estwick made 21 before falling to Aspin and Hartley became David Lloyd’s 50th career wicket in the Lancashire League. Alan Worsick then took centre stage removing the stubborn Smith,  cleaning up his opposite number Alan Fiddling for 11 and David Whitehead and Tony Greenwood without scoring as Todmorden collapsed to 88-8. John Brierley (25) and John Townend (18) put on 37 for the 9th wicket before Aspin broke the partnership by bowling Townend. Worsick clinched victory 6 runs later by ending Brierley’s resistance and Todmorden were dismissed for 131. Scorecard
