Accrington ended a traumatic season on a high with a second successive victory, beating Rawtenstall by 7 wickets. Glen Barlow hit 64 at the top of the order for Rawtenstall who made 158-5 against a five man Accrington attack led by skipper Worsick who took 3-38 against one of his former clubs. Barlow and professional Kamal Singh put on 91 for the 2nd wicket after Worsick had removed Peter Pickles for 10. Barlow was run out after facing 115 balls. His efforts earned a collection of exactly £10.00. Two runs later Worsick ended Singh’s innings at 48. Peter Wood made 13 and Brian Payne 9 in the quest for runs at the end of the innings. Singh removed Mark Stevenson (1) at 21 and professional David Lloyd (3) fell to Brett Storey 3 runs later with the score on 24. Just as he had the previous week at Bacup, the appearance of Trevor Hatch changed the course of the match, this time in partnership with Andy Stevenson. The turning point was the 19TH over bowled by Pat Rush which Hatch despatched for 28 runs, including four huge sixes as 100 runs came in 12.5 overs and 50 minutes. The pair put on 125 for the 3rd wicket to take Accrington to within 10 runs of victory when Stevenson fell to Pickles for 52. The opener hit five fours from 92 balls and passed 500 Lancashire League runs during his innings. Hatch continued on and finished with a career best unbeaten 88 from just 85 balls with five fours and four sixes to take Accrington to victory with four and a half overs to spare. Scorecard
