Fourteen year old Graham Lloyd took two catches on his senior debut in third placed Accrington’s  64 run win at Rawtenstall.  Openers David Lloyd (18) and Peter West (15) made a cautious start before West was caught by Peter Wood off Brett Storey for 15 with the score on 30 in the 8th over. Lloyd fell to his opposite number Kamal Singh for 18 off 51 balls with 42 on the board in the 13th over. Spirited knocks by Billy Rawstron (41) and Mark Aspin (49) who added 83 for the 3rd wicket, and Trevor Hatch who hit an unbeaten 44 from just 35 balls, helped Accrington to 189-5. Singh took 4-62 for the home side who also made a cautious start in reply against Aspin and Hatch.  Openers Glenn Barlow (9) and John Swanney (6) played out a couple of maidens before the ex Accrington skipper was caught by Accrington’s professional off Aspin (2-35) with the score on 17 in the 7th over. Barlow followed a couple of overs later after adding 7 with Peter Wood. Singh made a rapid 29 from 24 balls before Hatch trapped him lbw. Lloyd senior then picked up the prize scalp of Wood for 18 courtesy of a catch by Rawstron. Brian Payne (8) was Lloyd’s next victim at 81 and then Lloyd junior got in on the act catching Mark Griffin (1) and Brian Terry (2) off Ian Birtwistle (2-8).  Late resistance by Jonathan Benn (26) and Storey (8) took the home side to 125 all out with Lloyd taking 4-29.
Graham Lloyd: ”I only have faint recollections and what I do remember is that there was a large crowd at the ground that day. I recall looking into the crowd and seeing my English teacher who had come to watch and one catch off Birtie so it was nice to contribute a little, apart from that it's a bit blurry.” Scorecard
