Accrington lost for the tenth time in eleven games as title chasing Haslingden completed the double over the home side by 5 wickets.  Professional David Lloyd top scored with 41 in Accrington’s 124-8. Opener Mark Stevenson was first to go, bowled by Alan Barnes for 3 with the score on 14. His brother Andy followed in identical fashion for 23 in the 12th over with 33 on the board. Mark Aspin was next to go caught behind by Tony White off professional Hartley Alleyne (3-59) for 7 with the total on 40 in the 15th over.  Alleyne then struck a double blow in the 19th over, cleaning up Andy Gardener (5) and Trevor Hatch in successive balls with the score on 54. Malcolm Taylor (12) had to retire hurt after taking a blow in the face off the West Indian paceman. Skipper Alan Worsick became Ian Austin’s first victim at 85 but then Paul Barratt joined his professional to hit an entertaining unbeaten 22. Lloyd’s 83 ball innings was also ended by Austin with the score on 110 in the 32nd over. Barratt then took 7 off the last two balls of Alleyne’s last over and Neil Barnes fell to Austin (3-33) in the final over after making 5. Austin hit a swift 29 from 25 balls before being caught and bowled by Lloyd at 78. John Entwistle (7) fell to Hatch at 95 and with just 3 needed Knowles was caught by Andy Stevenson also off Hatch 4 runs short of his half century.
