Accrington’s batting misfired again as the home side went down to a second successive defeat against the unbeaten league leaders. Professional David Lloyd and Andy Gardener (11) were the only men in double figures on a wet wicket as Accrington were bowled out for just 66. East Lancs professional Cyril Mitchley took 4-16 and Brian Bowling 2-2. Peter West was the first to go caught behind by David Pearson off Mitchley for 2 and then Billy Rawstron was run out for 1. Lloyd fell to Ian Haworth in the 16th over with 36 on the board. Trevor Hatch was run out victim number two and then Mitchley removed Mark Aspin (8), Neil Jones (0) and Gardener with Bowling wrapped up the innings removing Andy Stevenson and Ian Birtwistle. Skipper Alan Worsick removed Graham Tattersall (11) and stand-in skipper Wayne Cooper in successive balls at 20 but Roland Horridge (16) added 41 with Pearson (15) before falling to Lloyd. Birtwistle accounted for Pearson at 53 but Neil Clemson (8 not out) and Mitchley (11 not out) saw East Lancs to a 6 wicket win in the 20th over. Scorecard
