Accrington went down to a 6 wicket defeat in a low scoring game at Lowerhouse. Alan Holden took 5-21 to help bowl Accrington out for 101 in the 33rd over. Holden dismissed professional David Stead (6), Neil Jones (4), skipper Alan Richardson (27), Ray Haworth (11) and last man Paul Graham (0). Home professional Jimmy Amarnath picked up opener Graham Beech (25) and Mark Aspin (0), Graham Bushell accounted for Peter West (10) with Adrian Varley (5) and Trevor Hatch (1) being run out. Stead struck back having Amarnath caught by Aspin for 2 but Stan Heaton and Phil Astin took the score to 54 when Astin was caught by Ian Birtwistle off Stead for 36. Jones had Pankaj Tripathi caught behind by Graham without addition and Stead held a return catch from Bushell (13) at 89. Heaton stood firm to see Lowerhouse home in the 24th over with an unbeaten 43. John Ormerod was also unbeaten on 5. Accrington stay in 11th place after 17 games. Scorecard
