Graham Beech's eighth half century of the season helped Accrington to a 51 run win against fifth placed Lowerhouse at Thorneyholme Road. Beech hit 68, adding 51 with Geoff Hayhurst (13) and 75 with professional David Stead (32) to help Accrington to 137-5. Stead then took 6-29 and Neil Jones picked up a league best 3-21 to dismiss Lowerhouse for 86. Stead removed Stan Heaton (1), John Ormerod (18), Graham Bushell (18), Jez Hope (0), David Keeley (9) and Tom Sullivan (3). Jones sent back wicketkeeper Brian Higgin (9), professional Mohinder Amarnath (0) and Ken Cronshaw (10). Paul Graham picked up three victims behind the wicket for Accrington who stay in tenth place after 20 games. Scorecard
