Title chasing Haslingden had a convincing 83 run win at Accrington. Openers Bryan Knowles and John Entwistle put on 45 before Entwistle was run out for 18. Mike Ingham joined Knowles to add another 47 before Knowles was bowled by Accrington professional David Stead for 41. Stead (4-54) also dismissed Ian Cocker (9), Alan Massicks (11) and Stuart Molloy (10). as Haslingden piled up 218-8 in 32 overs. Neil Jones claimed the wickets of Ingham (a career best 72), professional Andy Roberts (25) and Malcolm Grindrod (4) in taking 3-78 from 10 overs. Rod Taylor hit an unbeaten 15 as Haslingden's innings closed on 218-8 in a rain reduced 32 overs. Taylor (2-27 then removed Stead for 4, but Graham Beech (67) and Geoff Hayhurst (53) both made half centuries as Accrington meandered to 135-4. Beech also fell to Taylor with Hayhurst losing his wicket to Roberts. Second placed Haslingden used six bowlers. Accrington stay 11th in the table after 16 games. Scorecard
