In the second round of matches Accrington beat Enfield by 11 runs at Thorneyholme Road. In another rain affected match that began on May 24th, the home side made 138-8 with Stead hitting 42, Beech 34 and Geoff Hayhurst 29. Madan Lal took 5-42 for Enfield. The match resumed the following Sunday but Enfield could only make 8 without loss when rain came again. The match was completed on the Monday and Tuesday evenings with Ian Birtwistle proving to be Accrington's match winner, taking 6-42. Stead took 3-67 with Madan Lal hitting 28 in Enfield's 127.
