Accrington went down to a 2 wicket defeat at Burnley after posting 127-6 from their 34, 8 ball overs. Openers Graham Beech (39) and Geoff Hayhurst (29) both fell to Paul Spencer (3-54) who also picked up Neil Jones (2) spinner John Edmondson (3-15) picking up Mark Aspin (9), Peter West (0) and professional David Stead (21). Skipper Alan Richardson (11 not out) and Trevor Hatch (7 not out) were both unbeaten at the close. Hatch again struck early for Accrington, removing Roland Harrison for 2. Barry Bromley (46) and Peter Brown (29) fought back before Stead removed Brown, professional Gary Robertson (1), Trevor Pickup (11) and Mick Swift with Richardson dismissing opener Bromley and wicketkeeper Gordon Allison (19). After the run out of Edmondson, Paul Blakey (0 not out) and Spencer (2 not out) got Burnley home with 5 balls to spare. Scorecard
