Former England captain Brian Close hit a century at Thorneyholme Road where Todmorden earned an 80 run win over Accrington. Close totally dominated the Todmorden innings, hitting nine fours and five sixes after being dropped on 31. Alan Worsick took 5-40 and Dave Parsons 3-55 with only Garth Stansfield (24) and John Brierley (11) making double figures of the other batsmen. John Townend and Jim Clayton then ripped out the top order as Accrington lost 5 wickets in the first seven overs in scoring just 7 runs. Townend finished with 5-20 as Accrington were bowled out for 70. Skipper Peter West top scored with 23 and Worsick hit 16.
