Accrington 99-8, Ramsbottom 95-9
Another highly efficient bowling performance saw Accrington record their third win of the season against Ramsbottom at Thorneyholme Road.
Professional Alan Worsick took 4-28, Tony Gallagher 2-14 and Dave Parsons 2-25, including the wicket of Ramsbottom professional Karson Ghavri for just 1, to restrict the visitors to 95-9. Opener Mick Everett top scored with 30 before being clean bowled by Worsick to be 5th man out with the score on 70. Maurice Haslam prevented the hat-trick after Steve Ratcliffe was cleaned up off the next ball, to make an unbeaten 16 at the end of the innings.
Openers Graham Beech and Geoff Hayhurst put on 35 before Hayhurst was run out for 12. Beech followed 1 run later for 18, becoming Brian Fielding's 150th Lancashire League wicket. Fielding removed John Swanney for 5, 9 runs later and at 54 he accounted for Alan Richardson for 12.
Ghavri picked up skipper Peter West for 11 as Accrington struggled to 67-5. Four runs later Fielding removed Worsick without scoring but a 7th wicket stand of 20 between Malcolm Taylor (15) and Ian Birtwistle (8) took Accrington to the verge of victory.
Birtwistle was run out at 91 and Fielding dismissed Taylor without addition to have Accrington 91-8, but Gallagher hit two boundaries to seal a nail-biting 2 wicket win. Scorecard
