Fourth placed Accrington completed their third double of the season at the expense of Colne who were beaten by 6 wickets at The Horsfield.

Jim Heyburn claimed a career best 4-34 to restrict Colne to 133-9. Solid knocks by Martin Beechy (27), Howard Lonsdale (21), Ray Comerford (19), Trevor Lonsdale (17), Keith Woodhead (16) and Philip Davies (15) were the order of the home sides innings. Dave Parsons claimed professional victim number 13 when he had Rakesh Shukla caught behind by Paul Graham for 6.

John Wainscott (2-46) and Shukla removed John Swanney (1), Alan Richardson (9) and Peter West (5) and Alan Kennedy was run out for 1 to leave Accrington in trouble at 51-4.

Graham Beech stood firm to hit his second successive match winning half century to take the visitors to victory without further loss with the help of Malcolm Taylor who returned to form with an unbeaten 39. The pair added an unbroken 86 with Beech unbeaten on 62, to notch a 14th and final win of the season. Scorecard
