A fine all round team performance took Accrington to a 26 run win over Bacup at Thorneyholme Road.
Opener Graham Beech top scored with 47 in Accrington's 159-8 which was their highest score of the season to date at home. Beech innings included just one boundary and encompassed 115 minutes.
Graeme Smith upped his career best score to 28, adding 57 with Beech, skipper Peter West and Alan Richardson made 23 and John Swanney 11 with Bacup professional Mark O'Neill taking 3-44.
Professional Alan Worsick (2-40) dismissed home skipper Roger Law who was brilliantly caught pulling by Smith without scoring and Dave Parsons sent back the opposition professional for the eleventh time this season when he held a return catch off O'Neill (24). Peter Nicholson also made 24 but Ian Birtwistle took 3-20 and left arm spinner Jim Heyburn wrapped up the innings by taking a career best 3-29, including Bacup's top scorer Peter Fell for 28 (including three huge sixes) to give Accrington their first double of the season.
The following day Alan Worsick made a sensational debut for injury hit Lancashire in the John Player League match against Essex at Old Trafford. Worsick took 4-26, including the wickets of Keith Fletcher, Mike Denness, Keith Pont and former Colne professional Norbert Phillip.
He also made 12 with the bat but his side went down to an 8 run defeat.
