The first weekend in June saw leaders East Lancs and champions Accrington pick up maximum points from a double header. Accrington won for only the second time in seven matches beating Rawtenstall by 5 wickets at Bacup Road. Professional Alan Worsick took 6-22 and skipper Ian Birtwistle 4-37 to dismiss Rawtenstall for 75 with Terry Holt top scoring with 25. The champions replied cautiously taking 30.5 overs to achieve victory. John Swanney hit 29 and Graham Beech 27 after the early loss of Geoff Hayhurst (1) and Peter West (0) to Abid Ali and George Croisdale respectively.
