Champions Accrington lost for the first time since winning the title last September when arch rivals Ramsbottom staged a stunning fightback to earn a 27 run win at Thorneyholme Road. Dave Parsons earned his first senior collection after picking up 5-42 with professional Alan Worsick also taking 3-41 to dismiss Ramsbottom for 119. Wasim Raja top scored with 35 from 29 balls with Terry Stewart adding a vital 34 before being caught by John Swanney off Ian Birtwistle. Swanney himself top scored with 33 before Wasim Raja disturbed his timbers but it was Eric Kay who destroyed the champions middle order taking 5-25 to bowl Accrington out for 92 and take Ramsbottom to the top of the table.
