Champions Accrington's hopes took another knock when they lost at Bacup in controversial fashion. Robin Jones hit an unbeaten 58, Peter Nicholson 45 and opener Geoff Heaton 28 in Bacup's 158-3. Professional Alan Worsick hit 48, opener Graham Beech 21, Peter West and Alan Kennedy 16 apiece but Kenny Lord took 6-63 and John Beaumont 2-74 to restrict Accrington to 144-6 and give Bacup victory by 1,000th of a run. The champions are now 6th, 18 points behind East Lancs.
