Alan Worsick took 6-42 in Accrington's opening day 46 run win at Colne.
Young Accrington opener Graham Beech batted through the innings for
an unbeaten 55 in his sides 169-5 with Alan Richardson also making a
hard hit 50 after Geoff Hayhurst had been dismissed by Barry Driver
for 28. Geoff Hurlstone picked up 3 late wickets to finish with 3-28
for the home side. Colne had a disastrous start with opener Derek Harker
run out for 1 with Worsick dismissing Beechy (3), Howard Lonsdale (7),
professional Norbert Phillip (2) and Alan Braithwaite (8) all for single
figures. Trevor Lonsdale led a spirited recovery with 52 before Worsick
returned to dismiss him. Peter Lane (22) and Driver (21) chipped in
to give the score some respectability.
