Accrington v Bacup
Saturday July 19th 1975

Accrington gained revenge for a defeat at Bacup at the end of June by handing the Worsley Cup finalists a 6 wicket defeat at Thorneyholme Road. Professional Alan Worsick took his 50th wicket of the season in bagging 3-22 as Bacup were restricted to 117-7. Worsick removed both openers and then Ian Birtwistle took the vital wicket of professional Robin Jones for 13 as the visitors' early order struggled. Roger Law (41) and Ronnie Kershaw (32) again proved to be thorns in Accrington's side. Birtwistle removed the left handed Law and Dave Parsons returned to the attack to dismiss Kershaw and Phil Lord at a cost of 14 runs, which were his first wickets of the season at Accrington. Geoff Hayhurst then saw Accrington to their 12th victory of the season with an unbeaten 41. Peter West hit 24 and Alan Richardson 30 as Bacup tried six bowlers, including Jones, who rarely bowled during his spell in the league. Inspite of the victory, Accrington dropped down to third place after Enfield drew level with Burnley after gaining a bonus point in beating Ramsbottom.
