Title chasing Accrington secured a vital 3 wicket win in a low scoring game at Lowerhouse. Alan Worsick took 6-31 and skipper Eddie Robinson 3-33 to bowl the home side out for 75. Wicketkeeper Terry Neville also picked up 3 catches. Worsick scythed through the home sides early order sending back openers Mick Swift (0) and Tony Payne (3) and following up by dismissing Joe Holland (6) and David Hartley (6). Malcolm Blackhurst top scored with 26 before he too fell to Worsick. Professional Des Sparks was run out for 8 and Robinson picked up Alan Suthers (3), Denis Pollard (1) and Jack Stott (1) to leave wicketkeeper Ian Wrigley unbeaten on 20. It took Accrington until the 38th over to pass Lowerhouse's score with 7 wickets down. The top five all made double figures by Bob Ratcliffe's 15 was he highest score of the innings. Geoff Hayhurst made 14, professional Bruce Francis 12 and Russ Cuddihy and Brian Rutter 10 apiece with Sparks taking 4-32 and Pollard 2-23. Malcolm Taylor made 6, Alan Richardson 1 with Neville (2 not out) and Robinson (4 not out) seeing Accrington to victory. Scorecard
