Todmorden 99 , Accrington 100-5
Just 24 hours after completing a 3 wicket win over Todmorden at Thorneyholme Road, Accrington went to Centre Vale and completed a vital holiday double over their Border rivals to move to within 1 point of leaders Nelson who had a game in hand. Professional Wes Hall was again in fine form taking 7-60 to dismiss Todmorden for 99. Brian Whittaker (25), Colin Lever (24) and Malcolm Heywood (20) were the only batsmen to offer much resistance but Tyson soon struck back by removing Accrington openers Frank Rushton and Hall. Derek Mark was the man of the moment, hitting his maiden league half century with Martin Welbourne also making an unbeaten 31 in an unbroken 6th wicket stand of 56 which ensured Accrington’s eighth win of the season, this time by 5 wickets.
