Accrington suffered a rare defeat at Haslingden.

The home side made 160 all out with Eddie Robinson taking 5-25 and professional Wes Hall 4-63. Veteran skipper Jack Cronkshaw top scored with 50, Jack Hayton made 21 and Euland Sealy 16 in the Haslingden innings.

Rusi Surti (4-35), Rupert Jackman (2-26) and Cliff Moore (2-14) were the pick of the home sides six pronged attack to bowl Accrington out for 148. At one stage Accrington were in deep trouble at 65-8 but Jim Eland (31 not out), Eddie Robinson (28) and last man Jack Collier (17) fought a valiant rearguard action after only Hall (23) and Martin Welbourne (14) made any impression of the top six batsmen.
