Accrington reached the second round with a 29 run win at Dill Hall Lane in a low scoring match. At the end of play on Monday, Accrington were in trouble at 71-8 after Bill Haworth had taken 3-15. Skipper Lindon Dewhurst top scored with 32 adding 30 for the 5th wicket with Derek Mark (7) in the best stand of the innings. Haworth (4-25) soon picked up his 4th wicket when play resumed on Tuesday evening as Accrington were bowled out for 87. Professional Wes Hall struck immediately by removing his opposite number Conrad Hunte for 6. Hall went on to take 6-32 with Derek Rushton also in great form, taking 4-12 to dismiss Enfield for just 58 inside 17 overs.
