A cold rainy April afternoon at The Horsfield produced a predictable draw with Accrington 35-0 chasing Colne's 121 all out.
Accrington professional Wes Hall took 5-71 from 12 overs bowling through the Colne innings. The West Indian received fine support from Jim Eland who took 4-26 and Eddie Robinson (1-19).
Opener Derek Harker top scored with 30 but only wicketkeeper Terry Reeves (19) could manage to get in to double figures of the other batsmen. A last wicket stand of 39 frustrated Accrington who had Colne on the ropes at 49-6 and again at 82-9 but Brian Bulcock (15 not out) and last man Bobby Little (24) effectively saved the game for Colne.
The Rushton brothers opened the innings and had progressed to 35-0 when the match was called off in the 7th over of the Accrington reply.
