Both professionals hit unbeaten half centuries in Rishton's home draw with Accrington after a rain delayed start. Jack Rutherford hit an unbeaten 66 with good support from Bernard Hurst (38 not out) and Jim Smith (25). Bobby Simpson replied with an unbeaten 70, adding 56 for the 1st wicket with Russ Cuddihy (26) and an unbroken 52 for the 3rd wicket with Jim Bradshaw (22 not out) after Rutherford had taken 2 wickets in his second over.
