Lowerhouse v Accrington Bobby Simpson equalled Jim Bailey's record of six successive half centuries in Accrington's 6 wicket win at Lowerhouse. The Australian hit eleven boundaries before losing his wicket on 99 with just 2 needed for victory. Simpson became the third Accrington professional to pass 1,000 runs in a season. He added 60 with fellow opener Frank Rushton (24) and 64 for the 3rd wicket with Roy Dewhurst (27) after Lowerhouse had been bowled out for 164. Eddie Robinson picked up 4-50 and Neville Richardson 3-5 with Ken Tranter hitting 41, Wally Monk 40 and John Devon an unbeaten 22 for the home side who lost their last 4 wickets for the addition of just 9 runs.
