Accrington failed in a race against the clock to pass Haslingden's 161-8 declared at Bentgate. The visitors finished on 151-7 with professional Bobby Simpson making 52, his fifth successive half century and the first time he had been dismissed in this sequence. Tommy Cunliffe made 32, skipper Lindon Dewhurst 17 and Roy Dewhurst 16, but time ran out with Accrington still needing 11 for victory. Veteran Jack Cronkshaw had earlier top scored with 51 with professional Rusi Surti making 25 and Jack Hayton 18. Derek Rushton picked up 3-41 for Accrington. Scorecard
