Accrington
A v Whalley Road
A poor batting display on a low wicket by a depleted side was the main story of the latest defeat in a season of woe. Stand -in skipper Nigel Stockley won the toss and elected to bat. An opening stand between the skipper and Phil Carter of over 20 gave Accrington a decent start but after Carter was bowled by Paul Sharp for 9 and Andrew Thompson followed 2 balls later, a procession started. The skipper followed in the next over, bowled by Dave Halstead, who also dismissed Zaed Hussain and Andy Eland in the same over. Chris Dunne hung around for 5 and Waqas Ahmed looked good in making 2 not out, but 41 was never going to be enough. Andrew Thompson dismissed John Dewhurst for 4 but Alan Clark and Paul Edmundson both hit undefeated 16s to make it an early finish. Accrington did have several chances to make inroads but they were not accepted.
