Weekend Preview A hectic weekend kicks off on Friday with the start of the 2020 Competition. Enfield are the visitors to The Property Shop Arena. Ben Gorton captains the team. Masihullah Patel will make his senior debut for the club. Enfield will be without the competition's leading run scorer Adam Bracewell. The match begins at 6.15pm and will be followed by live entertainment in the clubhouse with vocalist Amy D. On Saturday Accrington travel to face Middleton in a first ever meeting between the sides in the Worsley Cup. Accrington had a bye in the 1st Round whilst Middleton beat the then league leaders Burnley in the 1st Round. Accrington make three changes with Jonathan Hayhurst, Damian Clarke and AN Other replacing wicketkeeper Ric Williams, Andy Greenwood and Mohammed Tayyib. Ben Gorton will keep wicket. Middleton also make three changes with Leighton le Carpentier, James Tierney and Mark Goddard replacing Rehan Udwadia, Kaleem Malik and Ben Lee. The seconds host Division 2 leaders Todmorden in the Junior Cup. On Sunday Accrington host second placed Crompton who go into the weekend following three successive league wins. Graeme Sneddon's men had an excellent second win of the season at Great Harwood last Sunday. Crompton hold the upper hand over Accrington in five previous league meetings winning four times. Accrington make another three changes with Ric Williams, Andrew Greenwood and Masihullah Patel replacing Jonathan Hayhurst, Damian Clarke and AN Other. Crompton name an unchanged team. The seconds travel to Glebe Street in the reverse fixture. The thirds have no game this weekend. The club is looking for an umpire for its 3rd XI games this season. This season we have a double Looking Back Feature going back to 1993 when Neil Johnson was professional and also to 2013 when the club won the Lancashire League title for the last time with Ashar Zaidi as professional. In the soggy 1993 season both of Accrington's league games were called off and replayed in June. Accrington's great start to the 2013 season continued with a seventh successive win in the league at Rishton. on Sunday May 26th.
