ACCRINGTON U9 REVIEW OF THE SEASON
Monday October 7th 2019

January saw the start of indoor training with Nigel Brown, concentrating on the fundamentals and developing new skills each week.

In April, training was stepped up to twice a week in preparation for the club’s first U9 match for several years.

We hosted Littleborough in a cup game and lost by over 100 runs; this was the theme for the first half of the season. Steadily, we began to improve and gain match awareness. By the end of the season we only lost by 8 runs in a close match against Nelson - an excellent improvement!
Much credit must go to our U7 team winning a game against Rishton and losing by one run in a game v Bacup in the U7 tournament at Burnley on a very wet day.

Many thanks to Mark for organising the season, the games and social events including the Lancs T20 outing.
At our presentation evening, awards were given out to all the children who took part in our All Stars programme, U7s and U9s. Individual awards went to James, Luca, Joe, Alex C, Dom and Noah C, well done all.
A big thanks to the kids, the parents and the coaches for taking part in a fab season.
Pietro – U9 Joint Manager

Mark Taylor Junior Co-Ordinator added: “After several years without an U9 team it was fantastic to see the clubhouse packed to celebrate our All Stars, U7 and U9’s, who should all be proud of what they have achieved and the progress they have made this season. Prior to the start none of them had ever played in a proper game before and it was great to see them learning as the season went on and just as importantly having fun and enjoying the games and training. Our aim was to make sure everyone got a chance to play in matches and I’m pleased that we were able to give over 20 boys and girls a chance to play in U7 and U9.

“I would like to thank team managers Pietro and Bryan for their encouragement of the kids during the games and at training, coach Nigel for his enthusiasm and support for the managers, Elio for his work behind the scenes and help in organising the presentation night and finally all the other parents who helped out in any small way during the season, your support is very much appreciated.

“We start back indoor training in January and next year we hope to have 2 U9 teams and an U11 team. We are always looking for new players, especially at U11 age group. If anyone would like more details of training, please contact me on 07949 610512.”
