Accrington's 1886 Scorecards completed The professional was Robert Lindley but he had an unhappy time and left the club in July after taking just 33 wickets and scoring just 69 runs. The leading bowler was Fred Whittaker who took 103 wickets. Bobby Calvert was the top batsman with 358 runs at 16.3, including an unbeaten century in the Lancashire Amateur Cup match at Mill Hill. The club reached the 3rd round of the competition before losing to Darwen who went on to reach the final only to be beaten by Church. There was controversy in a bad tempered match against Todmorden with allegations of bad behavior both on and off the field. The two clubs fell out and didn't meet again until 1897 when Todmorden joined the Lancashire League. .
