Jimmy Hayhurst

Accrington have appointed Jimmy Hayhurst as their new first team captain.

The 26 year-old takes over from David Ormerod who has stood down after three and a half years in charge during which he led the club to two Lancashire League titles and a Worsley Cup win.

The new captain said: "I would like to thank the club for the chance to captain the team. I hope to develop the current group of players at the club, to improve on this years disappointing league position. I would like to thank the outgoing captain David Ormerod for his work at the club over his period at the helm, we have enjoyed the most successful period in the club's history. Hopefully we can develop a team to compete at the right end of the table over the next few years. With the young and up and coming players at the club I feel the future is bright."
