Friday February 24th 2006

Accrington will again visit Rishton in their opening fixture of the 20/20 competition on Friday 9th June.

The competition will take on a new format this season with the games being played on a group basis. All 14 Lancashire League clubs have entered this time so there will be three groups with the winners going through to the semi finals along with the side with the best run rate of the remaining clubs.

Accrington are in Group 3 along with Church, East Lancs, Enfield and Rishton.

Burnley, Colne, Lowerhouse and Nelson are in Group 1 with Bacup, Haslingden, Ramsbottom and Rawtenstall and Todmorden. in Group 2. Gate receipts will be shared with the visiting club.

The league are hoping to build on the tremendous success of the competition last season when crowds returned in numbers to support the shorter version of the game. This year the competition will begin on June 1st with the semi finals and final being played in the first two weeks of July. Some clubs have chosen to play on Thursdays but the majority of games are on Fridays.
