John Pilling

I was asked to follow in the inimitable footsteps of Saf.

I took over the reins in October at the A.G.M. of the junior section and since then the committee have been looking at ways of helping to keep money (dirty word but very necessary!! ) coming into the club.

In December we held the Christmas party which by the look of the kids faces was a great success, many thanks go to Alven for the games, Christine & assistants for the food, all the people who kindly donated presents and the lads who organised the quiz.

Nets
For all the junior players the first winter net was on Friday 9th of January and they are set to continue for the next 10 weeks .They are all on Friday nights from 6.30pm until 7.45 pm and the cost is £1.50 per session. We are trying to collect all the money in as smoothly as possible so if you can bring in a cheque or cash to cover the amount of sessions that you are going to attend it would be greatly appreciated.

Sponsorship
The committee have also been looking at the idea of some form of sponsorship for each of the junior teams. This idea has been raised to try and offset some of the growing costs surrounding running the club. The initial thoughts were things like companies or individuals sponsoring match balls, trophies, after match snacks and so on. If anyone has any other suggestions as to what could be sponsored or wish to sponsor any particular item then please let me or any of the club officials know.

Race Night
On February 28th there is a race night being planned which as always promises to be a great night, so an invitation is extended to one and all to come and join us so keep your eyes and ears open for more info on that.

Well there you have it, my first report as junior chairman. It seems that for a lot of it, all I have gone on about is money, money, money but in order to run what I believe to be a safe first class club environment where kids can get their first experience of cricket the bottom line is - it costs!.

Anyway I hope you all have a good start to the year and I hope to catch up with you all soon
