Appointments

Andre Seymore

Andre Seymore has taken over from Damian Clarke as first team skipper on a short term basis. Andre is determined to get the best out of the players and to move the club away from the bottom of the table. Matt Wilson continues as vice captain. Len Dewhurst has resumed his duties as the 2nd XI captain. Current team selection reflects the club policy not to select players after the end of May who have not paid their subs.

Junior Cricket
The Under 17s lost their first match of the season at home to Bacup The juniors had a special Presentation Night to celebrate the winning of four trophies on Friday May 9th. Both the Under 15s and Under 13s were knocked out of the ECB Cup by Colne. In the league, the Under 15s have won 1 and lost 1 with one game abandoned. The Under 13s have lost 1 match and have two games to rearrange.

Functions
The Sports Quiz has been rearranged for Thursday August 7th. The Sportsman's Dinner has also been put back.

Sponsorship
Main club sponsors Fraser Eagle were the guests at the derby game with Church last Sunday. Fraser Eagle were represented by Maurice Duckworth (Production Director) and our own Mark Croasdale. Drumhawk also attended the publicity shoot. Thanks are due to Kevin Dean, MD at Fraser Eagle for his co-operation. This year we are reintroducing Ball Sponsorship. Any individuals or companies interested should contact Nigel Stockley 01254 392923. Other sponsorship packages are available by contacting Rod Kenyon. Full details are on the club website www. accringtoncc.co.uk. Please make every effort to support all Club sponsors whenever possible.

Player ins and outs
Zahir Afzal has returned to the club and Stefan Heins has decided to resume playing again. Alex James, an Australian born all rounder who appeared for Darwen 3rds last season has also joined the club.

Thwaites
As many of you will now know, Thwaites supply all our alcoholic beverages (much to the approval of the Editor). If you haven't sampled one yet please drop in for drink - you won't be disappointed.

Development
The Clubhouse extension project is still ongoing.

Our Lionel
Lionel Cooke is still with us as scorer and as Lancs League Secretary. Like Ol' Blue Eyes he just can't retire and for that the club is very grateful. Lionel, you are very much appreciated (especially in the tea room!!)

Results and fixtures
The seconds had a superb win over Bacup 2nds in the Cup to earn a home semi final with Haslingden on Sunday June 22nd. The firsts also put up a fine performance to take Bacup to the last ball of the game in the cup last weekend in spite of missing several 'regulars'. The A Team are also through to the semi finals of the Harry Wood Cup after beating Clayton Youth Club. Zed's men take on Gujar Khan at Wilsons on Sunday June 29th for a place in the final. Check out Zed's Diary on the website.

Junior Tops
The new tops were presented to the juniors by the owner of Callum's Bistro, Ray Peake. The smart looking tops in club colours, sport the name of Callum's on the back and they will be worn by all our junior players during the season.
