Juniors celebrate double success Sunday October 13th 2002
Accrington Cricket Club's Junior Section had a double reason to celebrate at the club's Annual Junior Presentation Night at the club on Saturday evening. Under 13s Team Manager Michael Donnelly was informed on the night before the presentation that his team had been confirmed as champions of the Lancashire League Under 13s Section 2 after weeks of uncertainty. This meant that two of the club's teams had won their respective leagues as the Under 15s had already been declared the champions of the Lancashire League Under 15s Section 2 two weeks ago. Hyndburn Council's Assistant Sports Development Officer Lee Boyer presented the individual trophies to the prize winners in addition to the league trophy to Under 15 captain Graeme Sneddon. All the club's Under 11 players received momentos and Jake Sheppard won the Player of the Year Trophy.
Waqas Ahmed was named Under 13s Player of the Year with Sagawat Hussain winning the cup for most runs and most wickets. David Cronshaw won the cup foe best bowling average and Matthew Donnelly had the best batting average. Under
13s averages The Under 15's leading batsman was Graeme Sneddon, who made his first team debut during the season. Sneddon scored 286 runs at an average of 95.3. Andrew Greenwood won the cup for best batting average (164 runs at 54.7) and Sagawat Hussain was the leading bowler with 10 wickets. Andrew Thompson won the cup for best bowling average and Player of the Year was Chris Dunne. Under
15s averages Individual trophies for the championship winning players will be presented at a later date as will the Under 17s awards. Accrington's Senior Presentation Night will be on Saturday November 19th.
