From the Dressing Room

tall stories

Today sees us welcoming the players, officials and supporters of our local rivals Enfield to Thorneyholme Road. Last weekend saw us travel to Todmorden only for the game to be washed out without a ball being bowled. So we go into today’s game still in second place in the table just one point behind Nelson. Our home double header weekend a fortnight ago saw us pick up 16 points with a defeat to Haslingden (4) and a comprehensive 12 point win over then leaders Rawtenstall.

The return of David Lloyd against Hassy was a really great occasion for the club and was scheduled to be showcased on “Cricket AM” on Sky Sports yesterday. I would like to thank David for the attitude he showed once we got into the dressing room and on the pitch, 61 he may be but he wanted to win as much as anyone and was as disappointed as the rest of us that we fell just short.

Against Rawtenstall we had a fantastic start reducing them to 0-2 and then 3-3 with our Pro Roy Silva bowling a terrific spell to finish with 6-27 and with the help of the skipper (4-15) they were all out for just 48. In reply with one eye on the weather we made hard work of our win but accomplished it inside 13 overs. So on to today’s game, we know we will have to be at our best again if we are to win the game, and will be working hard to ensure maximum points.

Enjoy the game.
