From the Dressing Room

tall stories

Today we entertain Burnley, and we once again extend a warm welcome to all their players, officials and supporters. Hopefully we will not have the same problems today with the weather that we experienced when this fixture should originally have been played in early May. By the whims of the great gods of cricket, the postponement of the full league programme that day has thrown up a weekend where all of today’s games will be reversed tomorrow, so both teams will know all about each other by the time we play again on June 29 th in the semi-final of the Worsley Cup.

It is pleasing to see that we have maintained our good run of form with the Worsley Cup win against Enfield being followed up by a fine win away at Church last weekend. The only blot on the copy book was the narrow 20/20 defeat at Rishton where in a high scoring game we eventually lost by just two runs, let’s hope that we were more successful last night at Enfield in the shorter version of the game. Following tomorrow’s game at Burnley we embark upon a run of four successive home fixtures, two 20/20 and two in the Lancashire League so we have a great opportunity at home to continue our terrific form and stay in the upper echelons of the league although we are taking nothing for granted.

I would urge you to encourage friends and family to come and see these games as there has been some great entertainment here this season. It is good to see the level of spectators that we have been getting and I hope it will continue or even improve. Once again we welcome “Bumble” back into our team today, let’s hope that he can help us to another victory.

Enjoy the game
Ian Wilson
